Copa Airlines: A flight that never happened
Tried booking a multi-city trip via the Copa app and no luck. Their team recommended switching to a laptop. That worked… sort of. Only Basic Economy was available, and seats had to be bought separately. Used Amex for payment, which got flagged as fraud because Copa showed up as “Copa storefront charge”. I cleared it with Amex, resubmitted, and received a confirmation email with confirmation code promising tickets within 6 hours. Twelve hours passed. Still no tickets. Their app showed no reservation. Reached out to Copa. They claimed the payment was submitted twice but blocked. Amex disagreed saying no charge declined after my confirmation. Amex even offered to book it with me over the phone, but I wasn’t near a laptop to book, since again multi/city had to be booked on their website not mobile. Tried again on Copa’s site. Got a new confirmation email, then another saying payment failed. E-mail had a link directing me to reach out to . I opted to call and was told that the link provided would be requesting me to send my last 2 bank statements and ID, or use a different card. That was it for me. Ended my journey with Copa before it ever began. Now booked on another airline using my same card.
