Instant book - policy change..?
Did they change their policy for instant booking vs. contacting the host to accept or decline? I get an instant book from someone with no prior reviews. They say that as long as they have a drivers license and credit card that they are a upstanding! Yes it was up to me to cancel with no penalty if I decided but isnt that putting more people in a precarious position? They accept a reservation so its no skin off their nose and guarantees them practically a booked reservation since the host, like me, will accept and keep the booking. I could have sworn years ago that the requirement was prior positive reviews before they could instant book. This seems like the typical corporate greed pull Maybe airbnb thinks no reviews positive in the same way that they think a 3 star review for a guest is positive Not having prior reviews does not make them a risk. Everybody starts out with no prior reviews and virtually all of the new guests want to be good guests. The risky part of a new guest is their lack of awareness of how the system works, not knowing simple things like where to look at your listing for amenities, etc. We look forward to new guests like this because we get a chance to educate them to our way of Hosting. Our STR thrives on repeat guests and not having to break bad habits from stays with unaware hosts is a plus. Yes, I agree everyone starts somewhere! But to me its like taking someone right off the street. I mean everyone has a license and credit card that doesnt make them an upstanding person, by any means! But what pisses me off more is the policy change and the way airbnb defends them. They say they have no prior review so that thats what makes them an upstanding person.bs Clm117577 They say that as long as they have a drivers license and credit card that they are a upstanding! Is this in the Airbnb terms of service? Is it a policy that I can look at? Or is this something somebody said to you when you were on a phone call with them? I believe the wording is no negative reviews, not upstanding person And of course its part of Airbnbs desire for hosts to accept any and all bookings. Were you under the erroneous notion that they care about anything but their bottom line? I cant shake off the feeling that Airbnb eventually will well, they pretty much have dropped this protection for hosts who used to select to only allow well reviewed guests to IB their place. Does anyone know whether a guest can just sign up a second or third guest account on Airbnb trying to wipe out any bad reviews by starting from Scratch again? This would give them a free ticket to book any place they want, not being punished for any previously bad reviews. They can definitely be part of a group and have the other person book. The review system is in my opinion totally worthless. It is essential to have a signed contract and also hold a security deposit. Also 3rd party damage protection.
