Travelling to China

I’m going to stay with my boyfriend in China for 3 weeks in August, he lives in Shanghai and I will be staying at his place. So I know we will have to go and register at the local police station since I’m not staying at a hotel which will do that automatically. most of the time we will be in Shanghai but for one or two weekends we might go to Hangzhou and Suzhou and stay in hotels, so those hotels will register with the local police station in those cities right? So I’m wondering if when we come back to Shanghai do we have to go and register again with the police to show I’m staying at his place again?
