Was not allowed to fly on a booked ticket (Saudia) - Air Travel Forum
I bought a return ticket from Egypt to New York via Saudi Arabia with Saudia. - Egypt to New York was via Jeddah - New York to Egypt was via Riyadh (4 hr 45 min layover, same day departure) and then Jeddah (1 hr 40 min layover, same day departure). While flying from Egypt to New York, I did not have any issue. But the return leg was horrible! A day before my return (ta && ta.queueForLoad ? ta.queueForLoad : )(, 'log_autolink_impression');flight from New York, I called the customer care to ask them about some other issue but they informed me that I am not even allowed to fly on this flight. Their Reason: You have two layovers in Saudi Arabia. Riyadh to Jeddah flight is considered as a domestic flight and because of Hajj, you are not allowed to fly on that flight. I asked them that if no international passenger can fly this route, then why was I even sold this ticket at the first place? And they were like: Our booking team and visa team are different. So, there might have been a misunderstanding. Misunderstanding? Holy f**! I had to pay $300 for date change and they sold me a ticket which had a single layover in Saudi Arabia. A single night in the hotel I was staying in cost $250 and I had to last minute extend the stay for 3 more days on top of that rescheduling fee. Moreover, my original flight was scheduled on May 24 and the Hajj season began on June 4. How ridiculous is this? And the worst part is there is absolutely no email I could find to raise this complaint. They have a feedback / complaint form on their website to which they never reply. Do you guys think there is anything I can do now?
