What's the best backpacking bag for a year solo trip?

Hello everybody, I'd like to know if any of you have traveled for so long and what kind of bag you recommend. I will go to South East Asia, China and Japan. How many liters should the bag be, what kind of fabric should it have, which fundamental components should it have? I appreciate it if you can also recommend a brand.
