The comment about booze in ports was referring to the fact that if you are ashore, you will have less time to take advantage of your drinks package, if you purchased one. Whilst there have been comments about declining standards on P&O, in many cases these relate to things such as no evening turn down service, no chocolates on your pillow etc. Not exactly deal breakers imho. With regards to e-mail alerts, I doubt that there will be many bargains to be had, booking so late. I would be inclined to book now through a good TA. The days of last minute deals are long gone !
