A/C not working but guests aren’t complaining - let it go?
TLDR: AC isn’t working, guest doesn’t seem to care. Offered to come look at it earlier today but no response. Worried they will complain later when it will be too late to address. Guest checked in yesterday (Thursday). In the middle of the night, I checked our home Ring device and saw that our Airbnb Ring devices were offline. I checked our WiFi thermostat and saw that it was offline also. Inadvertently fell back asleep and checked again an hour later - everything was back online but saw the thermostat was set to 72, AC was on, but inside temperature was 77. That seemed strange to me but chalked it up to a possible power outage and AC needed time to catch up. Checked this morning and AC was still running and inside temperature was still 77, so clearly something was going wrong bc our AC cools our place off very quickly. I reached out to the guest first thing letting him know that I thought something was going on with the AC and asked him if he would be willing to check the circuit breaker when he had a chance. He replied that the A/C was running fine. I checked a few hours later and no change - AC still running but not cooling. I again messaged the guest and said it appeared something is wrong and that we could come take a look at 2PM (we live an hour away). Or, if he wasn’t concerned, we could look tomorrow (Saturday) after he leaves but we should turn the unit off. He saw the message but did not reply. It is now 8 hours later, our cabin is 81 degrees inside, the thermostat is set at 72 degrees, and the AC continues to run. I turned it off to prevent any damage but they turned it back on. I can’t imagine it will be comfortable in there tonight, especially in our loft sleeping area, which sleeps 7. I’m worried they are going to demand it be fixed later tonight when it becomes unbearable. We are an hour away and the two HVAC repair people in town suggested changing the filters first before having them come out, which we were ready and willing to do earlier today but got no response. Additionally, the HVAC people are not available until next week and they leave tomorrow. Any suggestions on how to proceed? I don’t want the AC running if it’s not working correctly for fear of damaging the unit. I’m also wary of them requesting a refund when we were prepared to attempt to address the issue but they never responded.
