AirBnB new payout rules allows guests to bypass your cancellation policy ?

AirBnB just send out an email with their new payout rules, effective from 8 sep. And as i read it it allows guest to completely ignore/bypass your cancellation policy ???? What AirBnB now will allow guests to do is **reserve now-pay later**. And if they dont pay, then AirBnB will automatically cancel the booking So what now can happen: 1. A guests books your listing selecting the 'reserve now, pay later' option 2. They are given a deadline (72hr before check-in) to complete the payment 3. Plans change, they dont want to book anymore and so they decide to simply NOT pay before the deadline 4. AirBnB automatically cancels the reservation -> no payout to the host 5. Your cancellation policy does not apply because no money was ever paid So * Guest can book your place -> blocks your calendar * Guest postpones paypment via reserve now, pay later * **Guests who never complete payment simply have their reservation canceled 72hr before check-in.** * **Because no payment was ever collected, there is nothing to “refund” under your policy** aka.. hosts does not get paid. * **Airbnb will only issue your payout once they’ve actually received the guest’s funds.** English is not my native language, so I hope i'm wrong --- **Post Details:** - **Subreddit:** r/AirBnBHosts - **Author:** u/ebworx - **Score:** 30 upvotes - **Upvote Ratio:** 92.0% - **Comments:** 42 - **Posted:** 6/27/2025 - **URL:** https://reddit.com/r/AirBnBHosts/comments/1llpfu1/airbnb_new_payout_rules_allows_guests_to_bypass/
