Anyone here has travelled with a (big) monitor?

I am currently in SEA and since I planed to stay here for some time I decided right in the beginning to buy a monitor (27inch), and it has improved my life quality tremendously. So much, that I decided I will never be without a monitor anymore ever again haha! (except if its a weeks vacation or similar). I know a lot of people travel with a 15" portable monitor, but a 27" wouldnt be comparable to that. And I really need a big screen. I am going to fly to Japan soon and am thinking about how to take it with me. I would prefer to not go through the hassle of selling the monitor here and buy a new one in Japan. (The monitor is a "nice" one with a high resolution and good colors, it wasn't a cheap one and hard to find, really would prefer to keep it). So I wanted to ask you guys if any of you have travelled with a big monitor? And if so, how did you do it? How did you packed it and how did you secure that nothing breaks? I would be helpful for any tip!
