Input from those who've set up a 100% foreign-owned company in Asia
For full clarity, **I'm writing a guide to compare requirements for foreign-owned companies in a few locations in Asia.** Not sure how many locations are worth covering, so would like to hear from folks on this sub who've done it. **I'm Malaysian, and a foreign-owned company in Malaysia needs:** 1. A locally-residing director 2. A compliance officer (aka Company Secretary) 3. Around 600 USD in paid up capital for a bank account 4. A Malaysian registered address At first glance it looks ok, but the need for a locally residing director, however, means one of two things: 1. Stay overseas and appoint a local nominee director which costs a lot more. 2. Come to Malaysia on an Employment Visa, which requires over USD100,000 in paid up capital. This makes it much less accessible. What is it like in your country of choice? I'm interested to know how it compares to mine.
