Leaving leftover food in the fridge for the next guess

OK hear me out, not talking about gross leftovers. We are airbnb’ing an entire unit (no shared space) in the US and every once in a while our guests will leave perfectly fresh ontouched or unopened food or drinks in the fridge - maybe an opened energy drink, or other soft drinks, unopened / unexpired yoghurt, protein bar, a tub of icecream, a condiment bottle or fresh produce like apples, lemons, onions etc. I have stayed in airbnbs with shared spaces where guests were welcome to use anything in the fridge left by the host, so this doesn’t gross to me at all, but my husband thinks a nonshared unit should have a fully empty fridge and all of these should go to trash. Would a guest appreciate seeing any of these in an otherwise empty fridge or does it look like someone forgot to clean the fridge? Also, if it’s acceptable to leave unopened items, what is your take on some opened essentials ie., bottle of olive oil on the counter, some unexpired but opened gallon of milk for the coffee, opened ketchup bottle etc? --- **Post Details:** - **Subreddit:** r/airbnb_hosts - **Author:** u/HedgehogBusiness622 - **Score:** 37 upvotes - **Upvote Ratio:** 76.0% - **Comments:** 114 - **Posted:** 7/15/2025 - **URL:** https://reddit.com/r/airbnb_hosts/comments/1m00ytd/leaving_leftover_food_in_the_fridge_for_the_next/
