Low-key pub conversation starters in a new place?

Hello! I’m doing a little experiment in third places and public life during my upcoming trip to Leeds. I’ve picked one pub and I’m planning to go there every evening for 21 straight days. Just to see what happens when you show up consistently in the same public space while traveling. I’m not super outgoing, but I really enjoy being out in the world and I love when a small conversation sparks up naturally. I often find I’m braver when I’m traveling than at home, so this is me leaning into that. I'd appreciate hearing what has worked for y'all: * What are some of your favorite low-key conversation starters at a pub while visiting a new place? * Or: what’s something a stranger said to you that led to a positive interaction? Just to be clear: definitely not looking for pickup lines, just curious ways to talk to someone human to human.
