New host, second guest... Is it reasonable for them to keep AC set to 56F?

Set up my primary home on Airbnb, still figuring out the system... just looked at my energy dashboard and saw that the guest has had AC set to 56 degrees the whole time since checking in yesterday. These are hot days, 88-90 degrees during the day, but am I crazy for thinking this is nuts? I vaguely remember that this might even lead to damaging the AC system, can anyone chime in? Edit: Thank you for the helpful comments everyone! Many are wondering if the AC is set super low because it's not actually cooling the house but this is NOT the case... it's a 5 year old house with AC that works flawlessly, I was living in the house until last week. Also I have several smart home temp monitors around the house and they're all showing that the actual indoor temp is in the 50s. And it's not that small of a place, this is a detached SFH around 1,600sqft so I'm already shivering at the thought of my upcoming electricity bill! --- **Post Details:** - **Subreddit:** r/airbnb_hosts - **Author:** u/StrongFoundation5928 - **Score:** 366 upvotes - **Upvote Ratio:** 79.0% - **Comments:** 543 - **Posted:** 7/11/2025 - **URL:** https://reddit.com/r/airbnb_hosts/comments/1lx7t1k/new_host_second_guest_is_it_reasonable_for_them/
